For the first time in its long history, pornography is universally accessible.  And let’s be honest - it’s hard not to take a peek when searching for sex is as easy as asking Siri for the weather.  Like it or not, porn in America has become a household item, and the rise of the US porn industry, now producing a new high definition sex scene every 39 minutes, is every bit as American as the great gold rush, General Motors, and – apple pie. 

The other big change in this burgeoning industry is the type of worker it now attracts.  As old taboos disappear, a blue-collar work ethic has transformed the business.  The modern day porn star is as middle class is it comes, and just like all good, hardworking Americans, the men and women of the adult industry struggle to balance work and family, personal growth with professional image, and the indulgent present with a responsible future.  Like the rest of us, porn stars have to plan for retirement (which comes early in their business), setup college funds for their kids, mow their lawns on the weekends... 

Somewhere between The Osbournes, Duck Dynasty, and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, American Porn is the new, boundary busting, 1-hour unscripted series that takes an honest, human, and up-close look at the day-to-day lives of 6 of California’s biggest adult film stars, and their husbands, friends, girlfriends, and kids.  Join us, as our characters struggle to live their dreams of a stable home life, a loving partner, and a real family, all while skyrocketing through the surreal heights of porn star fame and fortune.

But these ordinary Americans with extraordinary jobs must face much more than the usual daily struggles of living and working in the modern world.  Far too frequently, adult stars still have to endure cruel and hateful judgments placed upon them by those who don’t believe that porn is a legitimate way to earn a living.  Hardest of course is when that lack of acceptance comes from those closest to them,  such as neighbours, shop owners, their children’s school teachers, and even sometimes, members of their own family.  But working in porn has plenty of perks, too, and whether it’s attending the prestigious AVN awards, partying with co-stars on the weekends, or just loving what you do – and doing it well – these real and passionate men and women will take you behind the scenes, into their lives, into their homes, and into an industry the likes of which America has never before seen.
